Workshops Tailored to One Organization
Media Training
JCH Enterprises has developed the curriculum for a full-day workshop entitled “Coaching to Meet the Press and Other Hostile Audiences.” Click here for an outline of the basic workshop which can be tailored to each client’s specific issues and concerns.
Initially geared for clients in the chemical industry, this workshop can easily be tailored for use with
- Manufacturers
- Health care facilities
- Banks
- Public/private schools and universities

- Utilities/telecommunications companies

- Municipal officials or candidates for public office
The main strength of the media training workshops is the realistic role-plays that are drawn from the real-life issues/concerns of each client organization. In full-day workshops, the majority of participants get “hands-on” experience of what it’s like to be in the “hot seat.” (In half-day workshops, only 3-4 people have this opportunity.) Everyone benefits from playing out their responsibilities as members of the crisis management team or gets a chance to act/think/talk like a reporter or angry citizen. The role-plays are videotaped. Feedback/critique from the instructor and the peer group vastly increases the learning experience for everyone.

Dealing Effectively with Angry People
Since anyone can encounter angry, upset, concerned, or even hostile people any given day, workshops of 1-3 hours are also available on “Dealing Effectively with Angry People” or “Handling the Hostile Hordes.” Focusing specifically on the most likely issues of the client, these have been useful for the following types of audiences:

General Workshops
Workshops on both topics can be provided for individuals drawn from a variety of organizations. This can be accomplished in one of two ways:
- An umbrella organization like a Chamber of Commerce or manufacturing council or a United Way promote the workshop among their members. Each organization sends 1-4 people at a “per person” fee.

Keynote Speeches/Conference Presentations
The members of your trade association or membership group might benefit greatly from the skills JCH Enterprises can convey in a speech. In time frames anywhere from a one-half hour (after lunch/dinner) speech to a 1 ¼ - 2 ½ hour break-out session, JCH Enterprises can convey the important aspects of how to deal with the media or handle angry people.
